Assuming the nom de plume, ‘The Ghost’, Cai is a notorious criminal in Constantinople. Upon the return of Essa, Cai’s father who has been fighting rebel factions, Cai is forced to reconsider his actions against family expectations.

Tightly plotted and fast paced, the meticulous historical and geographic settings add colour and verve to the context of Cai’s story making this novel a richly textured tapestry that feels authentic and convincing.

Cai must decide how best to utilise his skills and experiences, a conflict of desires that forces him to consider selfish wants versus societal needs. An excellent, well written novel that makes a lasting impression.
